Postgame Notes
- The Hoosiers returned home Sunday to play the No. 9 Penn State Nittany Lions and improved to 18-9 on the season and 8-8 in the Big Ten with a 68-60 victory.
- IU has won five out of their six games against ranked opponents at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall this season.
- Sophomore guard Rob Phinisee hit two free throws after the first media timeout in the first half gave Indiana a 12-5 lead as part of a 10-1 run at the 15:24 mark. IU was 5-of-5 to start the game shooting.
- IU extended their run to 16-2 on a freshman guard Armaan Franklin layup with 12:08 remaining in the first half to give the Hoosiers an 18-6 lead and force a Penn State timeout.
- The Indiana defense held Penn State without a field goal for 6:40 in the first half before Lamar Stevens hit a field goal to end the drought at the 11:46 mark.
- Indiana went on an 11-0 run and with two-consecutive 3-pointers by senior guard Devonte Green, the Hoosiers took their largest lead of the game at 37-18 with 2:16 remaining in the first half.
- After falling behind in the second half, 48-42, the Hoosiers went on a 13-0 run to regain the lead and take a 55-48 lead on a freshman forward Trayce Jackson-Davis dunk with 7:24 remaining.
- The Hoosiers closed out the game by making nine free throws in the final 1:50.
- Jackson-Davis recorded his ninth double-double of the season. The Hoosiers have won all nine of those games.
- IU outscored Penn State 21-8 on points off turnovers and also outscored the Nittany Lions 25-12 off the bench.
- Indiana's defense held Penn State to only two 3-pointers made, which is the lowest the Hoosiers have allowed this season and for the second-straight game, IU has allowed the lowest efficiency on 3-point shooting (2-or-14, 14.3 percent) of the season.
- The Hoosiers had three players score in double figures on Sunday: junior guard Aljami Durham (14), Jackson-Davis (13) and Green (10).
- Durham finished the game with a team-high 14 points, while adding three rebounds.
- Jackson-Davis recorded his ninth double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds in 31 minutes.
- Green tallied 10 points, while making his first three 3-pointers of the game and dished out a team-high three assists.
- Junior forward Justin Smith finished with nine points and eight rebounds in 31 minutes.
- Junior forward Race Thompson scored eight points and grabbed four rebounds in 21 minutes.
- Phinisee recorded seven points, five rebounds and two assists, while tallying a game-high and match a career-high five steals.
- Redshirt freshman Jerome Hunter hit a 3-pointer and grabbed three rebounds.
- Senior forward De'Ron Davis scored two points and grabbed a rebound in 11 minutes.
- Franklin hit a layup in five minutes.
- Redshirt forward Joey Brunk picked up six minutes of playing time.
- The Hoosiers will be back on the road for their second matchup against Purdue at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27.
