NOTES: Indiana Hosts In-State Rival Purdue on Saturday

OPENING TIP
Indiana University is in its 120th season of competition in men's basketball and will begin a two-game homestand when it hosts in-state rival Purdue on Saturday. The Hoosiers are looking to snap a three-game losing streak overall and a five-game skid to the Boilermakers. According to ESPN's BPI, the Hoosiers are projected to have the 6th toughest strength of schedule in the country for the remainder of the season.

HONORING THE 1980 BIG TEN CHAMPS AT HALFTIME
IU finished 21-8 and won their last six league games thanks to the return of Senior All-American and Big Ten Player of the Year Mike Woodson, who earlier had back surgery in December. Members of this team also had roles on the 1979 NIT Championship squad, the 1981 National Championship and Big Ten title season, and the 1983 Big Ten Championship team. The team had 12 NBA draft picks, 3 Big Ten MVP's, 5 All-Americans, 4 NBA Head Coaches and 2 NBA Front Office Executives. Isiah Thomas also was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2000.

Indiana Coach Archie Miller is in his third season of guiding the Cream and Crimson. He is 189-101 in eight-plus years as a head coach, which includes six years at the University of Dayton. His Flyer teams made NCAA Tournament appearances in each of his last four seasons, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2014. He is 50-38 at IU. Matt Painter is in his 15th year at Purdue and is 334-169.

He is 9th in the Big Ten in rebounding, 3rd in field goal percentage and 7th in blocked shots. Junior Justin Smith is averaging 11.3 points and leads the Hoosiers with 26 steals. Among players in the Big Ten who have come off the bench 10 or more times this season, senior Devonte Green leads the conference averaging 11.2 points in those games. Green is the brother of NBA Champion and LA Laker Danny Green. Redshirt junior forward Joey Brunk is averaging 9.2 points in his last 5 games. In 11 league games, he is 4th in the league in FG% making 55.7% of his shots. In his last 5 games, freshman Jerome Hunter is averaging 7.3 points and is 7 of 13 (53.8) from three-point range.
