IUTF Concludes Day One of the Meyo Invitational

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Indiana Track & Field concluded day one of the Meyo Invitational on Friday night inside of Loftus Sports Center. Alexis Hills new personal best in the women's weight throw highlighted the evening for the Hoosiers.
De'Aira Robertson raced to a time of 8.65 in the prelim of the 60m hurdles to grab the eighth fastest qualifying time.
For the second weekend in a row, Rikkoi Brathwaite clocked the fastest qualifying time in the 60m prelim with a time of 6.70. Brathwaite returns to action tomorrow at 10:10 a.m. for the semifinals.
In the men's 5000m, the Hoosiers went 1-2 with Jake Gebhardt picking up the victory in a time of 14:27.21. Skylar Stidam finished with silver after clocking a time of 14:30.42. Also, in the field was Ben Miller who placed 17th in a time of 14:49.77.
Megan Grabowski ran her single event of the evening as she clocked a time of 24.28 in the 200m. Brathwaite returned to the oval for the men's 200m where he took home gold with a time of 21.23.
Elizabeth Stanhope had a break out race in the 600m where she picked up the win in her section on her way to a fourth-place finish overall in a time of 1:30.61. Mallory Mulzer nabbed a time of 1:31.60 to place 10th overall. On the men's side, Cooper Williams nearly out-kicked his opponent but came up short and placed second with a time of 1:17.33. Making his debut as a Hoosier, Reece Proctor clocking a time of 1:21.40. Micah Camble rounded out the trio with a time of 1:21.56.
In the first field events of the weekend, Alexis Hill hit her stride in the weight throw by heaving a distance of 21.25m (69' 8"). With the mark, Hill now claims the second-best mark in program history. Princess Brinkley was also in action where she secured a distance of 18.56m (60' 10"). In the men's competition, Nick Lane picked up sixth with a mark of 20.45m (67' 1.25).
The Hoosiers will conclude their stint at the Meyo Invitational tomorrow, Feb. 8. Robertson in the 60m hurdle semifinal at 9:45 a.m. will kick off day two for Indiana.
