No. 22 Hoosiers End Regular Season With Win At Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Behind another 20-point performance from redshirt junior guard Ali Patberg, No. 22 Indiana picked up its first win inside Crisler Center since 2009 in a 78-60 win over Michigan on Sunday afternoon.

The Hoosiers will learn their Big Ten Tournament seeding later this afternoon. The tournament runs from March 4-8 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

KEY MOMENTS
- Michigan led by as many as six in the opening frame but a 3-pointer from Wise and a pair at the line by Gulbe cut the deficit to one, 14-13 with 3:20 to go. It was all part of a 11-0 run for the Hoosiers as it led 19-16 after the opening frame.
- The lead for IU extended to as many as six in the early few minutes of the second quarter on a 3-pointer from Patberg and a baseline floater for Penn with 7:33 to go.
- Michigan would cut it to three, 30-27, but back-to-back buckets from Holmes and a transition bucket from Penn made gave IU its largest lead at seven in the half. But the Hoosiers wouldn't score for the rest of the quarter but maintained a three-point lead, 34-31, at the break.
- Indiana would open things up late in the third quarter as Berger found Holmes for a second-chance opportunity at the rim and a Penn 3-pointer gave IU a 54-43 lead with 2:44 to play.
- It was start of a 10-0 run for the Hoosiers that extended to the fourth quarter and increased its lead to as many as 21.
NOTABLE
- Indiana reaches win No. 23 with the regular season finale victory over the Wolverines. It ties a program record set in the 2017-18 season during the program's run at the WNIT title.
- They also win their 13th Big Ten game this season, setting a new record for wins in a conference season. It bests the program's 12 wins it recorded in 2015-16.
- Redshirt junior guard Ali Patberg led the way with 21 points on 8-for-12 shooting which included a 2-for-2 mark from the 3-point line. It's her fourth consecutive game with 20 points or more and sixth this season. She also ended the afternoon with seven assists and three steals.
- Three other players ended in double figures behind 14 points from junior guard Jaelynn Penn, 13 points from sophomore guard Grace Berger and 12 points from freshman forward Mackenzie Holmes.
- Senior forward Brenna Wise led the way with seven rebounds.
- IU held Michigan to 33.9 percent shooting in the game, while shooting 53.7 percent from the floor on its end. The Hoosiers also went 46.2 percent from the 3-point line (6-for-13) and 82.4 percent from the free throw line (14-for-17).
