Postgame Notes
- The Hoosiers opened up their play in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament on Wednesday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis against the Nebraska Cornhuskers and improved to 20-12 on the season with an 89-64 victory.
- This is the first season that IU has won 20 games under head coach Archie Miller and also marks the first win for Miller in the Big Ten Tournament.
- The Hoosiers went 3-0 against the Cornhuskers this season.
- With the score tied at 16 in the first half, the Hoosiers went on a 7-0 run, capped off by a freshman forward Trayce Jackson-Davis layup with 10:59 remaining to take a 23-16 lead.
- After trailing, 33-29, IU went on a 16-1 run over the final 3:54 of the first half, capped off by a junior forward Justin Smith layup with nine seconds remaining and Indiana extended that run to 31-5 to begin the second half.
- After Nebraska had cut their deficit to 72-62 with 6:58 remaining in the game, Indiana went on a 17-2 run to close out the game, capped of by a redshirt junior forward Joey Brunk layup with 56 seconds remaining.
- With a season-high 12 blocked shots, including 10 in the first half, the Hoosiers tied Wisconsin for the second most blocks in a single game in Big Ten Tournament history and also tied for the third most in school history.
- Indiana shot the ball 35-of-66 (53.0 percent), while its defense held Nebraska to 21-of-70 shooting (30.0 percent).
- The Hoosiers outscored Nebraska 38-23 off the bench, while also outscoring the Cornhuskers 40-24 in the paint.
- Indiana recorded a season-high 23 assists on 35 made baskets, while outrebounding Nebraska, 47-38.
- The Hoosiers had five players score in double figures on Wednesday: freshman guard Armaan Franklin (13), Smith (12), senior guard Devonte Green (12), Jackson-Davis (11) and junior guard Aljami Durham (11).
- Franklin led the Hoosiers in scoring for the second time this season with 13, while grabbing a career-high eight rebounds and dishing out three assists.
- Smith recorded 12 points and six boards for the Hoosiers.
- Green scored 11 points, while grabbing three rebounds and dishing out four assists.
- Jackson-Davis recorded his 12th double-double of the season with 11 points, while setting a new career high with 17 rebounds.
- Durham tallied 11 points and four assists.
- Sophomore guard Rob Phinisee picked up nine points and dished out a team-high seven assists in only 13 minutes.
- Brunk recorded eight points and grabbed three rebounds.
- Senior forward De'Ron Davis scored six points and grabbed a rebound in 12 minutes of action.
- Redshirt sophomore Race Thompson scored four points, while grabbing a board and dishing out two assists.
- Redshirt freshman Jerome Hunter tallied three points and four rebounds for the Hoosiers.
- Junior Cooper Bybee and freshman Nathan Childress each recording playing time over the final minutes.
- The Hoosiers will continue Big Ten Tournament play at 9 p.m. on Thursday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis against Penn State.
