
Head Coach Ron Helmer Finalist for USTFCCCA Men’s Coach Of The Year

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association announced their finalists for the Indoor Track & Field Men's Coach of the Year honor on Friday afternoon. Indiana Track & Field Head Coach Ron Helmer was tabbed as one of three finalists for the award.
Since the conclusion of the 2019-20 regular season, Helmer has been named the USTFCCCA Great Lakes Regional Coach of the Year along with the Big Ten Men's Coach of the Year Honor.
Throughout the season, the Hoosier men climbed as high as No. 5 in the national rankings. They remained steady at No. 14 for the last three weeks of the season. In the men's Great Lakes Region, Indiana held the top stop for the entirety of the indoor season.
At the end of February, Helmer helped coach the Hoosier men to their 19th Big Ten Conference team trophy in program history. He saw two individual event winners along with the men's DMR racing to first place. Another three also picked up All-Big Ten accolades.
