Indiana University Athletics Statement Regarding the Potential Coronavirus Threat
3/5/2020 4:30:00 PM | General
Bloomington, Indiana – Indiana University has established a well-informed and highly-capable Executive Policy Group to anticipate and address coronavirus issues that could impact Indiana University. IU Athletics is working closely with this group to monitor, plan and respond to the potential coronavirus threat.
The health, safety and security of our students, staff and fans is our top priority and will continue to guide our decision-making process moving forward. Senior Associate Athletic Director Stephen Harper will lead the department's efforts in this regard, which will follow the counsel and directives of the Executive Policy Group and other pertinent authorities.
As part of our effort to keep everyone as healthy as possible, if you have plans to attend an IU athletic event but are feeling ill, please stay home. We suggest that you call your medical provider if you are feverish. Based on the emerging situation surrounding the coronavirus illness and even the usual seasonable rounds of colds and flu, we all need to do our best to not put others at risk.
IU will continue to update https://coronavirus.iu.edu with any developments or any university activities. Likewise, the Centers for Disease Control websites and other sources are linked from the IU Coronavirus site to provide further health information. Guidance continues to remind that frequent hand washing, use of sanitizer and keeping your hands away from your face are important habits during the season.
