Freshman Anni Eisenhut had a big impact during her first season at Indiana, competing in 20 rounds of golf with a 74.50. The native of Grunwald, Germany earned her best finish at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic as she finished sixth. IUHoosiers.com caught up with Eisenhut about her first season and what she is focusing on during this time.
What was it like coming in as a freshman and competing in every team tournament?
My main goal for the season, before I even started college was to work hard and continuously give my best in order to compete in each team tournament. Thus, I am extremely happy that I achieved that goal. Also, I love traveling in general, and am very happy that I had the chance to get to know so many new places together with the team.
You had your best finish of the year in Puerto Rico. Describe your play there and how it felt to earn sixth place?
Puerto Rico was the first tournament after a long off-season period. Therefore, I was very excited to compete again on a competitive level after a few months being off the golf course. From the beginning on I kept good a mindset and tried to enjoy and have fun hitting balls again. Another reason why I had such a good time was that I had the chance to be in such a beautiful place like Puerto Rico, where I have never been before. My right mindset finally lead to a really good game, where I hit almost all fairways and greens. Unfortunately, I did not make as many putts as I wanted to, but I am still delighted when looking back.
What was the most important thing you learned during your freshman season?
The most important thing I learned during my freshman year, was to stay patient. Golf is a sport that just does not owe you something and you cannot expect to hit low scores out of nowhere. You have to work hard and give 110% all the time in order to succeed.
What are you most looking forward to when you get back on the course to compete?
I am very excited to travel with the team again and get the chance to play new courses in all different environments! Also, I look forward to getting better and better the more I compete.
Where are you at right now?
I am at home in Munich, Germany.
How are you interacting with your teammates?
We all stay connected through social media, like texting, Snapchat or Facetime.
How has the adjustment gone to online classes?
It first took me some moments to figure out how everything works. But, as most of my classes had had great focus on electronic quizzes and submissions before, it was not such a tremendous difference.

What is something you and your family are doing to pass the time?
My mother and I workout together in the morning. Also, my whole family cooks together, so we have a nice family dinner everyday.
What shows are you watching?
"La Casa del Papel" on Netflix !! ("Money Heist" in English)
What is your major?
My major is Interior Design at the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture, and Design.
