Q&A: Brock Hudkins

Brock Hudkins is a junior from Danville, Indiana. He had his 2019-20 season cut short due to injury. He finished with a 10-2 overall record on the season and improved career record to 43-25. He started the season with first-place finish at the MSU Open and third-place at the Journeyman Classic. He won first three matches at Midlands Championships until he got injured in semifinal match and finished in sixth-place at the Midlands Championships Hudkins was ranked as high as No. 6 in the country.

Where are you at right now?
At home in Danville, Indiana.

How are you interacting with your teammates?
We usually do Zoom meetings every Friday with our coaches and team to stay in touch.

What advice would you give your fellow Hoosiers during this time?
Try and keep a good positive mindset about everything, stay focused with your routine, and find something you truly enjoy to give you a mental break from all this chaos.

What are you most looking forward to when you get back on the court?
Just being around my team again and being back in the wrestling room.

How has the adjustment gone to online classes?
It was definitely confusing at first, but I do my work ahead of time and set days to really focus on homework so it has made it easier.

What gives you encouragement and motivation during this time?
I stay in touch with my coach Angel and we talk about wrestling and watching film. I really focus on learning visually through watching film and then implement it during practices. It helps me stay focused and understand that I can get ahead of everyone right now staying on top of my routine.

What is something you and your family are doing to pass the time?
We are definitely a movie family, we love watching movings and playing games.

What shows are you watching?
I watch Rick and Morty, Stranger Things, and Sometimes my girlfriend and mom put on Jersey Shore or the Kardashians and I get stuck watching that aka I secretly enjoy watching it.

What is your major and what are your future career plans?
My major is Exercise Science (Pre-Physical Therapy)
My future plans are to attend graduate school either here or in North Carolina; and then find a job and hopefully train or coach!
