
IU Athletics Continues "Hoosier Classics" Series Tonight with Memorable IU Women's Basketball Contests

Bloomington, Indiana – Indiana Women's Basketball is in the midst of its greatest run of sustained success in program history, and Hoosier fans will have a chance to re-live six of Coach Teri Moren's most memorable wins over the course of the next week.
IU Athletics continues its "Hoosier Classics" series with the re-broadcast of some of the unforgettable Indiana University Women's Basketball games from the last five years beginning tonight at 7 p.m. Each game will air in its entirety at 7 p.m. on the IUHoosiers All Access page on Facebook.
Hoosier fans will have an opportunity to once again watch one of IU's most potent tandems, Tyra Buss and Amanda Cahill, during their senior seasons. They'll get the chance to watch huge wins keyed by members of the current team, including Jaelynn Penn and Ali Patberg. They'll also be able to once again enjoy a number of recent wins against archrival Purdue, both in Bloomington and West Lafayette.
In coming weeks, we will continue to highlight more great games from IU Football, Men's Basketball and Women's Basketball history. Schedule details will be forthcoming on IUHoosiers.com, in the #GoIU Newsletter, and on the respective program's social media accounts.

Western Kentucky at Indiana, Nov. 17, 2017
In a game that was back-and-forth throughout, it was senior Tyra Buss that came up with the game's biggest – and final – play. With the game tied at 71, Buss split a pair of defenders and converted the game-winner with just three seconds remaining as IU improved to 3-0 on the young season. Buss scored 22 points to lead the way, while Amanda Cahill (15 points, 13 rebounds), Jaelynn Penn (10 points, 11 rebounds) and Kym Royster (17 points, six rebounds) also came up big for the Hoosiers.

Iowa at Indiana, Feb. 22, 2017
On Senior Day, Indiana's five-person senior class ended up staying a little longer. After finding themselves tied at 64 at the end of intermission, the Hoosiers and the Hawkeyes battled for another ten minutes before the Hoosiers ultimately came away with an 80-77 double overtime win. Senior Karlee McBride hit her fourth 3-pointer on the day at the 3:57 mark of the second overtime to give Indiana the lead to good. McBride finished with 12 points, while fellow seniors Jenn Anderson (20 points) and Alexis Gassion (10 points, seven rebounds, nine assists) also reached double figures. Junior Tyra Buss added 21 and Amanda Cahill 17, as all 80 of IU's points came from its five starters.

Michigan State at Indiana, Jan. 6, 2019
The Hoosiers picked up their first win against a top-15 team in nearly 15 years with a 68-64 win over the No. 14 Spartans at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Playing in front of one of the top-10 crowds in program history – 6,380 – the Hoosiers came up with the key plays down the stretch. A Bendu Yeaney jumper tied the game with 1:49 left. Jaelynn Penn then hit the game's biggest shot – a 3-pointer with 47 seconds left to put IU up by three. IU would three of four free throws down the stretch to pick up the win. Coach Teri Moren's team got 17 from Penn, 14 from Brenna Wise and 12 from Ali Patberg while improving to 14-1 overall and 3-0 in the Big Ten.

Iowa at Indiana, Feb. 21, 2019
What turned out to be a classic looked like a clunker early on, as the tenth-ranked Hawkeyes raced to a 24-9 first quarter lead. But Ali Patberg, making her return from a three-game absence due to a shoulder injury, led the Hoosier back. The lead was cut to eight at half, and a 13-1 Hoosier run to close the third quarter cut the margin to three. The teams went back and forth until the closing seconds when Bendu Yeaney hit a runner with :03.8 remaining to give the Hoosiers' a 75-73 win that proved to be critical in their eventual berth in the NCAA Tournament. Patberg led IU with 21 points and seven rebounds, while Iowa got 26 points and 12 rebounds from eventual national player of the year Megan Gustufson.

Purdue at Indiana, March 3, 2019
Senior Day in Bloomington turned into a serious rout for the Hoosiers against their arch-rival in the 2019 regular season finale. Coach Teri Moren's team raced to a 21-13 lead at the end of one quarter, extended the lead to 22 by halftime, and cruised to a stunningly easy win in the final home game for seniors Kym Royster and Grace Withrow. Ali Patberg led the way with 18 and was one of four Hoosiers in double figures. The Hoosiers' defense completing shut down Purdue offensively, holding the Boilermakers to 30.4 percent shooting overall and 11.8 percent shooting from behind the 3-point arc. The win was IU's 19th on the season and helped solidify its prospects of receiving an NCAA At-Large berth. The loss was equally damaging to Purdue, which dropped to 17-14 overall with the setback and ultimately missed the NCAA Tournament.

The Hoosiers continued their recent domination of the in-state series with a convincing 66-54 win in Mackey Arena. The win gave IU its sixth win over Purdue in the last seven meetings, and enabled IU to claim the Barn Burner Trophy for a program-record fourth straight season. Indiana took control early, leading by six after one period and 13 at half. After Purdue battled to get within six at the end of three, Indiana regained control down the stretch. Ali Patberg (17), Grace Berger (15) and Jaelynn Penn each scored in double figures for the Hoosiers.
