5/1/2020 11:51:00 AM | Cross Country, Track and Field
Joely Pinkston is a native of Fishers, Ind. and the 2020 Big Ten bronze medalist in the 800m. IUHoosiers.com caught up with Pinkston to see what she has been doing during this time.
Where are you at right now?
Fishers, IN with my family
What is your major?
Finance and International Business
How are you interacting with your teammates?
Mostly texting and zooming for now. Also reminiscing lots on past meet thanks to TimeHop and Snapchat Memories
How has the adjustment gone to online classes?
My professors have been super great and have worked to make the transition as seamless as possible. I still prefer being in in-person classes but I'm thankful for the technology to continue school even when we can't all be together.
What gives you encouragement and motivation during this time?
I have an incredible community of people who have encouraged me to see the good parts in this whole situation, to learn and grow from it, and to use it as a time to trust God more. My family is also a big encouragement and I'm blessed with this time with them.
What is something you and your family are doing to pass the time?
We did some Minute To Win It games against some family friends. We had a new challenge every day and it was a good way to keep up the competitiveness and also bring lots of laughter. (We welcome competitors hahah)
What shows are you catching up on?
I had never really watched the Office before but my brother really wanted to try it out so that's what we've been watching.
What are you most looking forward to when you get back to practice/competition?
My teammates!! I miss them a lot. It's not the same to train alone and I'm looking forward to being back with them!
What advice do you give to your fellow Hoosiers during this time?
Use this as a time to build other people up and better yourself. Reach out to check in on others and encourage them. Also read new books, try new recipes, write a letter, or just try something that you've been wanting to do and have put off because of the busyness of life.
