BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– Junior Patrick Fletchall's father is a Doctor, so when the Indiana men's tennis student-athlete had a chance to support frontline workers during the pandemic he enthusiastically supported it.
On Saturday, Fletchall will team up with some elite athletes to raised money to fight COVID-19 and help frontline workers and their families.
"Without the frontline workers we wouldn't be anywhere," Fletchall said. "I think we have to give back to them in some way for all their help they have given us during these tough times."
All proceeds from the match will go to the Indianapolis branch of Frontline Foods, a grassroots organization focused on providing meals for frontline workers and their families.
The match will take place on Saturday June 13 at 9:00 AM at Tarkington Park in Indianapolis. It is being organized by the social media site Cracked Racquets and part of the larger Cracked Racquets Open tournament, June 12-14 with a singles and doubles draw.
Fletchall will team up with two-time Grand Slam Champion and Olympic Silver Medalist Rajeev Ram and will go against All-American and former IU volunteer assistant coach Ronnie Schneider and two-time State Champion and current Northwestern student-athlete Presley Thieneman.
Fletchall, a native of Carmel, Ind., won two State Championships in singles and was a two-time Indiana High School Player of the Year.
Fletchall said he is very appreciative of the work of frontline workers and hopes they can make a significant impact with this match.
"I can't thank them enough for what they are doing during these very tough times and how they are putting their lives in front of others," Fletchall said.
