Veatch Tabbed as CoSIDA Academic All-American

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced their Academic All-American honorees on Wednesday afternoon. Distance runner Ben Veatch of Indiana Track & Field earned third team accolades.
The 2019-2020 Academic All-American Cross Country and Track & Field Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
The rising redshirt senior boasted a 3.93 GPA while majoring in exercise science.
On the oval, Veatch helped the men's squad to a Big Ten Championship after taking second in the 3000m and 5000m at the indoor championships this past February. Also, during the 2019-20 indoor season he won the historic Meyo Mile on the campus of Notre Dame with a time of 4:04.21. He is a Big Ten Champion in the indoor 3000m and the 5000m outdoor. Veatch earned All-America status in the indoor 5000m and outdoor 10000m during the 2018-19 season.
During the cross-country season, Veatch raced to fourth place at the 2019 Big Ten Championships prior to picking up fourth place at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional to punch his individual ticket to the NCAA Championships.
