BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– Indiana volleyball senior Brooke Westbeld has been named the female Scholar-Athlete of the Month honoree for August.
Westbeld, a native of Kettering, Ohio, is majoring in Liberal Studies with an Arts & Humanities concentration.
"Brooke finished the spring semester very strong while studying from home, and she has not wavered at all during the summer semester," Assistant Director for Academic Services Allen Kohn said. "Her hard work and determination are unmatched and will benefit her when she enters the workforce."
Brooke plays to pursue playing volleyball professionally overseas after graduation and then wants to get into graphic design within athletics. She is also interested in coaching because she said she loves working with young athletes.
"I think that academic success is important because it is a way to find things in life that you are passionate about and it helps you find a career that you truly will love for the rest of your life," Westbeld said. I have received great support from the academic advisors at IU and am excited to continue with my classes."
Westbeld will be recognized with a photo and write-up display in the D. Ames Shuel Academic Center.
