Women’s Golf Places Trio on Big Ten Preseason Honors List

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's golf seniors Mary Parsons and Priscilla Schmid join sophomore Valerie Clancy on the Big Ten Preseason Honors List, the conference announced on Thursday.
Parsons, a native of Delta, British Columbia currently holds the best career average in program history at 73.73. Last year, Parsons posted a 73.70 mark and finished T40 or better in six of seven events. She opened the season with a T17 finish at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational.
Last season, Schmid was averaging a 71.18 in 11 rounds, which was on track to be the best season average in program history before an injury kept her out of the spring schedule and the season was ultimately shortened. The highlight of her season was earning the first tournament title of her career at the Landfall Tradition. The native of Montevideo, Uruguay twice earned Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Week accolades in the fall and came in at No. 21 in the final GolfStat player rankings. Schmid earned WGCA All-American Honorable Mention honors, the fist Hoosier to earn a WGCA accolade since 2003. For her career, her 74.22 average is the second-best in IU history.
Clancy returns after a freshman season that saw her compete in 15 rounds. A native of Mitchelstown, Ireland, Clancy made her career debut in the Cardinal Classic, where she finished in third place.
The 2021 Indiana women's golf spring schedule will be released in the coming days.
