Men’s Tennis Opens Season at Badger Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– The Indiana men's tennis team opens competition this week by traveling to Wisconsin for the Badger Invitational January 28-31 in Madison, Wis.
Teams that will be competing at the Badger Invitational will be: Indiana, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Minnesota.
The Hoosiers will have 10 student-athletes taking part in competition: seniors William Piekarsky and Andrew Redding, juniors Vikash Singh, Mac Rogers and Patrick Fletchall, sophomore Luka Vukovic and freshmen Jagger Saylor, Michael Andre Nisanth Basavareddy and Ilya Tiraspolsky.
Over the course of the four-day event, there will be six doubles matches and six singles matches. The action will start at 7 p.m. ET Thursday with doubles matches featuring Wisconsin vs. Nebraska and Indiana vs. Minnesota. In the individual play format, team results will not be kept.
Competition will get underway on Thursday night with doubles at 7:00 p.m. ET. Play will continue with singles and doubles on Friday and Saturday and end with two rounds of singles on Sunday.
Last year before the spring season got cut short, the Hoosiers finished with an 8-3 record and 1-0 mark in Big Ten play. The team finished on a five-match win streak. Those wins included a 4-3 win over Notre Dame, a 5-2 win over No. 25 Dartmouth and beating Purdue for the fourth straight time.
The Hoosiers were ranked No. 37 in the country at the end of the season. Off the court the team exceled in the classroom as they earned the Herbert Cup for highest team GPA in IU Athletics.
