
Munie Earns Second Player of the Week Nod

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – For the second time this season Indiana men's soccer redshirt junior Daniel Munie was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday (Oct. 12).
Munie and the Indiana defense shut out two non-conference opponents, Omaha and Trine, last week in a pair of wins on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium. Munie had the fifth goal in Indiana's 9-0 victory against Trine, scoring a with his head off a Victor Bezerra corner.
Starting every match this season, the Maryland Heights, Missouri, native has led five clean sheets, scored three goals and contributed one assist. On September 14, Munie earned player of the week honors for the first time after helping IU hold No. 16 Akron to a 1-1 draw. Munie scored a header from a corner in that match as well.
In all, Indiana men's soccer student-athletes have earned three Big Ten Player of the Week distinctions. Alongside Munie's two, freshman Tommy Mihalic received the award on August 31.
Munie and the Hoosiers are back in action Tuesday (Oct. 12) night as they restart Big Ten play by welcoming Ohio State to Bill Armstrong Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET, and the match will be aired live on Big Ten Network.
