IUSD Athletes Excel in Recent Team USA Competitions

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Several Indiana Swimming and Diving student-athletes showcased superb performances while competing for USA Swimming and USA Diving over the weekend (Oct. 8-10).
Freshman diver Carson Tyler dominated at the UANA Pan American Diving Championships in Tucson, Arizona, where he helped Team USA win its first Pan American title since 2011. Tyler earned gold medals in both the 1-meter dive (463.35) and synchronized springboard (288.21) and took silver in the 3-meter dive (518.25).
Redshirt junior Michael Brinegar and freshman Mariah Denigan traveled to the Las Vegas Open Water Championships, where they displayed strong performances in the Elite 10K race. Brinegar (1:40:22.79) won the men's event and Denigan finished No. 3 in the women's race, qualifying both for the 2021-22 U.S. Open Water National Team.
IU swimming and diving returns to team competition Saturday (Oct. 16) as the full squad travels to Evanston, Illinois, for a dual meet at Northwestern. The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m. ET.
