Celentano Selected to CSN Team of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Junior goalkeeper Roman Celentano has been the anchor for an IU defense that has shut out six straight opponents and allowed just three goals in its last nine matches.
On Monday (Oct. 25) College Soccer News rewarded Celentano for his efforts, naming the Hoosier netminder to the CSN Team of the Week.
Lockdown defense has been the key to Indiana's hot streak that has propelled the Hoosiers to the top of the Big Ten Conference standings and into position to claim at least a share of a fourth straight Big Ten regular season championship with a win on Sunday (Oct. 31).
Celentano made four saves in Sunday's crucial 1-0 win over Wisconsin, a match that was scoreless until Tommy Mihalic's golden goal header in the 106th minute. His biggest test came in the 26th minute via a one-on-one with Wisconsin forward Andrew Akindele. Akindele made a fine attempt, but Celentano positioned himself well and reacted just in time, diving to his right to keep the match scoreless.
The reigning Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, Celentano leads the conference in shutouts (8) and saves (46).
Two matches await Celentano and Indiana in the final week of regular season play. First, IU hosts a strong non-conference opponent in VCU (9-5-1, 4-3-0 A10) Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET. Then, IU travels to Maryland in a match that will help decide the Big Ten Champion. With a win Sunday (Oct. 31), the Hoosiers claim their 18th regular season crown.
