
Hoosiers Welcome No. 11 Minnesota To Wilkinson Hall On Wednesday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Volleyball (9-13, 3-7 Big Ten) plays host to No. 11 Minnesota (12-6, 7-3) on Wednesday, October 27 at 7 p.m. The match is the Hoosiers annual Dig Pink game and will air live on Big Ten Network.

The Opening Serve
• Last time out, the Hoosiers completed the season sweep of Rutgers on Sunday, October 24. Indiana was able to outlast the Scarlet Knight in five sets, 3-2 (25-20, 21-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-13).
• Senior outside hitter Breana Edwards led the charge against Rutgers with a season-high 27 kills while tallying four blocks in which three were solo.
• Freshman setter Camryn Haworth served up another three aces in the match against Rutgers to improve to No. 5 in the Big Ten with 30 aces so far in 2021.
• Junior defensive specialist Paula Cerame had a strong week by tallying 39 digs. She is now fifth in the conference in digs with 355.
• Junior middle blocker Kaley Rammelsberg continued her strong hitting and moved up to No. 9 in the Big Ten in hitting percentage after the weekend slate of matches. Rammelsberg is hitting .349 and has recorded 150 kills.
All-Time Series
• The Gophers have a strong grip on the all-time series record, 58-17. The last win for the Hoosiers was in 2014 where they picked off Minnesota 3-1 (18-25, 25-20, 25-20, 35-33).
• Indiana and Minnesota have already met once in the 2021 season. The Hoosiers traveled to Minneapolis on Sunday, October 17 where they stumbled, 3-0 (15-25, 16-25, 21-25) to the then 12th ranked Gophers.

• MINNESOTA: In his 10th season, Hugh McCutcheon sits at the helm of the Minnesota Volleyball program. He has coached them to No. 11 in the nation and a 12-6 record overall and 7-3 in the Big Ten Conference. There are 4-1 in their last five matches with their only loss being to No. 14 Penn State in straight sets. Their marquee win in that stretch was over Ohio State who Minnesota beat in four sets. Redshirt senior opposite Stephanie Samedy leads the attack for the Gophers with a Big Ten leading 305 kills and a hitting percentage of .250. Samedy also leads the conference in points with 336.5. Sophomore outside hitter Jenna Wenaas also has triple figure kills with 211. Sophomore Melani Shaftmaster is the main setter, recording 709 assists. Her 709 assists rank third in the Big Ten. Senior defensive specialist CC McGraw has most of the squads digs, tallying 306 which is second-best in the conference. On defense Minnesota is led by redshirt senior middle blocker Katie Meyers who has put up 74 blocks this season. As a team, the Gophers are hitting .243 while they are allowing their opponents to hit just .182. Minnesota leads the Big Ten in digs, averaging 16.41 per set.
Last Time Out
• The Hoosiers were last in action on Sunday, October 24 when they hosted Rutgers. Despite being down 2-1, Indiana bounced back to win the match, 3-2 (25-20, 21-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-13). Breana Edwards led the way with 27 kills and four blocks. Camryn Haworth dealt three aces while also recording 51 assists and five kills.

• Graduate student setter Brooke Westbeld is leading the setting unit with 432 assists so far this season. She has also tallied 99 digs and 23 kills.
• Sophomore middle blocker Savannah Kjolhede has put up a team-leading 55 blocks.
• As the Hoosiers starting libero, junior Paula Cerame is coming off a strong match against Rutgers where she saw 26 digs. She currently leads Indiana in the category with 355. Cerame is averaging 4.38 per set.
• In the match at Minnesota on October 17, sophomore outside hitter Morgan Geddes tallied a career-high 10 kills. She then matched that career high in the victory over Rutgers on October 24.
Clutch Time
•Senior outside hitter Breana Edwards made clutch plays when she needed to as she led the Hoosiers to victory against Rutgers on Sunday, October 24. The Rainer, Ore. native put up a season-high 27 kills, four blocks, and one assist.
• In the fifth and final set the Hoosiers were down 11-8 but Edwards kept Indiana it with a kill and a solo block. She went on to score the final three points that the Hoosiers needed to secure the win. Edwards had the game-winning solo block to complete an outstanding day at the office.
Freshman Coming In Hot
• Freshman setter Camryn Haworth has been stellar behind the serving line, dealing an Indiana-leading 30 aces. Haworth had three in the victory over Rutgers.
• Freshman outside hitter Mady Saris is having a strong first season with the Hoosiers as she has secured 210 kills and 33 blocks. She recorded her third double-double of the season on October 24 against Rutgers with 12 kills and 12 digs.
