
Indiana Cross Country Completes Time At Big Ten Championships

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Indiana Cross Country wrapped up its competition at the Big Ten Cross Country Championships on Friday afternoon.
The Wisconsin men (27 points) and the Minnesota women (72 points) won the Big Ten team titles on. Indiana's men's squad placed fourth with 119 points while the women came in fifth with 152 points.
Arjun Jha led the way for the Indiana men with a sixth place finish to earn All-Big Ten First Team accolades. Jha crossed the finish line in a time of 25:03.7. Jake Gebhardt and Austin Haskett finished back-to-back in 23rd and 24th, respectively. Gebhardt captured a time of 25:29.9 while Haskett saw a time of 25:34.2. Skylar Stidam was the next Hoosier across the line with a time of 25:45.2 and finished in 32nd. Ben Veatch completed the scoring for Indiana as he placed 34th in a time of 25:47.8.
In his first conference race, Gabriel Sanchez came in 45th with a time of 25:58.4. Dustin Horter was next across the line 58th where he saw a time of 26:16.7. Ben Miller picked a time of 26:17.9 to finish in 61st. Big Ten Rookie Carlos Vilches Ortiz rounded out the field of Hoosiers as he came in 76th with a time of 26:46.3
Sarah Schmitt was the top finisher on the women's side with a time of 21:07.8 for a 14th place finish. Schmitt earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors for her finish on Friday afternoon. Mariah Wehrle, Hannah Stoffel, and Mikaela Ramirez completed the 6k in 30th, 31st, 32nd. Wehrle clocked a time of 21:25.3 while Stoffel crossed the finish line in 21:25.9. Ramirez rounded out the trio with a time of 21:27.0. Maddie Dalton was the last Hoosier to score as she raced to 51st and a time of 21:53.0
Ana Barrott captured a time of 22:20.9 before Alyssa Skorge crossed in 76 and saw a time of 22:23.3. Kelly Mindak secured a time of 22:27.1 and 79th place finish while Jenna Barker notched a time of 22:35.2 to place 82nd.
Next, the Hoosiers will travel to Evansville, Ind. for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday, November 12. The meet will be hosted at the Angel Mounds Cross Country Course with the men's 10k at 12 p.m. ET and the women's 6k following at 1 p.m.
