BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana freshman golfer Áine Donegan has been named Big Ten Co-Golfer of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The accolade is the first of Donegan's career and the first earned by a Hoosier since Priscilla Schmid claimed the honor on Oct. 30, 2019.
Donegan led Indiana to the team title of the 2021 Courtney Cole Invitational after shooting an even par 144 (71-73) through 36 holes. The Hoosiers outpaced the field by 36 strokes to earn the program's first team victory since winning the Lady Boilermaker Classic on April 14, 2019.
The Ennis, County Clare, Ireland, native cleared the field by two strokes to win her first collegiate tournament and become the first Hoosier since Schmid (Oct. 27, 2019) to earn an individual tournament title.
Donegan has played to three top-15 finishes in her first three collegiate tournaments, including a pair of top-10 finishes. Her scoring average through three tournaments (72.63) is on pace to shatter the school record set by Mary Parsons (73.31) in the 2017-18 season.
Indiana will wrap up the fall slate of the schedule at the Illini Invitational from Oct. 11-12 at the Medinah Country Club Golf Course.
