Donegan to Represent Ireland in the Spirit International Golf Championship

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana freshman Áine Donegan will represent Team Ireland in the 10th annual Spirit International Golf Championship beginning on Thursday in Trinity, Texas.
The 2021 Spirit International Golf Championship will continue the greatest amateur golf event at the treasured Whispering Pines Golf Club in Texas. The 10th championship will arrive with a strong history and celebrated alumni. The Spirit International Golf Championship remains the premier showcase for the world's top amateurs.

TOURNAMENT NOTES
• The 54-hole tournament will consist of 80 players from 20 different countries, two men and two women from each country with representation.
• The event with play five concurrent competition categories: international team, men's team and women's team, and men's and women's individual stroke play competitions.
• Donegan will join Sara Byrne (Miami (FL)), Paul Conroy (Chattanooga), and Sam Murphy (Grand Canyon) on the Irish squad.
• The event will begin with tee times at 9:30 a.m. ET on Thursday, Nov. 4. The three-day event will conclude with the Closing Ceremony and Medal Presentations at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 6.
• Spirit alumni have gone on to win over 650 professional titles, 25 major championships and 17 Olympic appearances. They include 16 PGA Tour winners, 25 European Tour winners, 23 LPGA Tour winners and 21 Ladies European Tour winners.
• The championship will be available via livestream during competition on GolfChannel.com, the NBC Sports app and on TheSpiritGolf.com. GOLF Channel will present the highlight show in primetime, from 7-9 pm ET on Dec. 9, followed by an encore presentation on Dec. 11 from 4-6 pm ET.

• Donegan, a freshman from Ennis, County Clare, Ireland, has been outstanding in her debut season with the Cream and Crimson.
• She has been Indiana's top individual finisher in each of the program's first four events of the 2021-22 campaign and carries a team-best stroke average of 72.00 in 11 rounds.
• The Big Ten Co-Women's Golfer of the Week (Oct. 6) has accumulated three top-10 finishes this season, including an individual victory at the Courtney Cole Invitational on Oct. 5. Her individual win was the first by a Hoosier since Priscilla Schmid (209; -7) took the individual crown at The Landfall Tradition on Oct. 27, 2019.
• Indiana nabbed the team title at the Courtney Cole Invitational behind Donegan's excellent play to give the Hoosiers their first team victory since winning the Lady Boilermaker Classic on April 14, 2019.
• According to her player bio on thespirtgolf.com, Áine's first career hole-in-one came at the age of 10.
