IUVB Hits The Road For Two Matches This Weekend

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Volleyball (9-15, 3-9 Big Ten) hits the road for two matches starting with Iowa (3-19, 1-11 Big Ten) on Friday, November 5 at 8 p.m. ET. The Hoosiers will then clash with Northwestern (10-13, 5-7 Big Ten) on Sunday, November 7 and is slated for a 1 p.m. ET first serve.

The Opening Serve
• The Hoosiers were last in action on Saturday, October 30 where they took on Northwestern inside Wilkinson Hall. Despite tying the match at 1-1, Indiana dropped the Big Ten contest 3-1 (13-25, 25-23, 25-10, 19-25).
• Freshman setter Camryn Haworth has been dealing aces all season, recording 31 in 2021. The number is ranked No. 5 in the Big Ten
• Junior defensive specialist Paula Cerame continues her success in the Big Ten and has tallied 386 digs so far this season which is sixth best in the conference.
• Junior middle blocker Kaley Rammelsberg is tenth in the Big Ten in hitting percentage with .334 and 157 kills.

• Indiana holds a slight 38-36 advantage over Northwestern in the all-times series between the two programs. The Hoosiers and Wildcats last played this past Saturday where Indiana dropped the match, 3-1 (13-25, 25-23, 25-10, 19-25).
• In the all-time series with Iowa, the Hoosiers have the lead over the Hawkeyes, 41-37. The last time the two programs met was in 2021 for two matches. Iowa took the first match, 3-1 (25-20, 15-25, 24-26, 17-25) before Indiana won the second matchup, 3-2 (28-30, 25-14, 25-18, 23-25, 15-13).
Checking Out the Competition
• IOWA: Vicki Brown is the head coach of the Iowa Volleyball program and is in her third season. The Hawkeyes have a 3-19 record overall and are 1-11 in the Big Ten Conference. Senior right side hitter Courtney Buzzerio leads the Iowa attack with 314 kills for a hitting percentage of .205. Her 314 kills are No. 3 in the conference. Buzzerio has put up 24 blocks on defense. Senior middle blocker Hannah Clayton has recorded a team-leading 64 blocks while also tallying 150 kills. Sophomore Bailey Ortega is their main setter who has put up 602 assists. Senior middle blocker Amiya Jones is No. 10 in the conference in aces, severing up 23 in 2021. As a unit, the Hawkeyes are allowing their opponent to record 12.93 digs per set which is fourth in the Big Ten.
• NORTHWESTERN: Shane Davis is in his fifth season at the helm of the Northwestern Volleyball program. The Wildcats have compiled a record of 10-13 overall with a 5-7 record in the Big Ten. Sophomore middle blocker Leilani Dodson leads their attack with a hitting percentage of .341 on 201 kills. Dodson's percentage ranks No. 9 in the Big Ten. On the block, Dodson has a team-leading 61 blocks including 13 solo blocks. Junior outside hitter Temi Thomas-Ailara continues to have a strong season with 350 kills and a hitting percentage of .216. Thomas-Ailara sit at No. 2 in points (422.5) and No. 6 in kills in the conference so far this season. She is also a threat from behind the service line, dealing 36 aces which is the sixth best in the Big Ten. Sophomore Alexa Rousseau does the setting for Wildcats, recording 862 assists which is for No. 10 in the conference. As a team, the Wildcats lead the Big Ten in opponent digs, allowing just 12.32 per set. Northwestern is also out hitting their opponents, .224 compared to the .214 by their opposition.

• The Hoosiers were last in action against Northwestern on Saturday, October 30. After dropping the first set, Indiana evened the score at 1-1 but the Wildcats proved to be too much and the Hoosiers stumbled, 3-1 (13-25, 25-23, 10-25, 19-25). Breana Edwards led the attack with 13 kills while Savannah Kjolhede had a team-leading two blocks. Camryn Haworth led the Hoosiers in assists with 27 and in digs with 13.

• Junior middle blocker Kaley Rammelsberg is the team leader in hitting percentage with .334 on 157 kills. She has the tenth best percentage in the Big Ten.
• Graduate student setter Brooke Westbeld has a team-leading 439 assists. She has also put up 31 blocks and 23 kills.
• Sophomore middle blocker Savannah Kjolhede leads the Indiana defense with 70 blocks which includes 15 solo blocks. The sophomore has also tallied 128 kills.
• As the Hoosiers starting libero, junior Paula Cerame has recorded a squad-leading 386 digs. The number is currently No. 6 in the conference.
• In the match at Minnesota on October 17, sophomore outside hitter Morgan Geddes tallied a career-high 10 kills. She then matched that career high in the victory over Rutgers on October 24.
