Holmes Drops 30, Joins 1,000 Point Club In 86-66 Win At No. Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Junior forward Mackenzie Holmes set a new career-high 30 points and joined the 1,000-point club as No. 10 Indiana rolled to an 86-66 win at No. 20 Ohio State on Sunday night.

- Indiana (8-2, 2-0 B1G) opened the game up on a 10-0 run behind six points from junior forward Mackenzie Holmes. Ohio State battled back late in the frame, trimming the lead to 19-15, after getting on the board with 4:55 to play.
- Opening up the second quarter with back-to-back buckets, the Hoosiers continued to push as it stretched the lead to on a Berger take on the left side. The Buckeyes chipped away again, cutting the lead to as few as four, 29-25, but Cardaño-Hillary connected on a baseline triple with 4:12 on the clock. Holding the Buckeyes without a bucket for the final two minutes, Indiana increased its lead to 14, 43-29, at the break.
- Taking over once again in the third quarter, the Hoosiers shot 58.8 percent from the field and outscored OSU, 24-17. They held its largest lead of the game in the third, on a pair of free throws from Cardaño-Hillary with 1:27 left.
- In the fourth, Ohio State (7-2, 1-1 B1G) pushed back at their deficit but could only come within as few as 14 while struggling to shoot on the night, collecting a season-low 36.4 percent clip from the floor.

- Indiana records its largest ever win over the Buckeyes in program history, topping a 19-point victory back on Jan. 19, 1981. The Hoosiers win back-to-back games in Columbus for the first time since the 2001-02 season and wins in back-to-back meetings for the first time since 2002-03.
- Holmes set a new career-high 30 points by going 13-for-19 from the floor in the win. She ties a career-high 13 made field goals. In addition, she joined the program's 1,000-point club as the 30th member all-time. It was her 16th career game scoring 2 points or more.
- Berger added 21 points, the 12th 20-plus scoring effort of her career. The Louisville, Ky. native wen 9-for-13 from the floor and tied team-high seven rebounds to go along with five assists.
- Graduate student guard Nicole Cardaño-Hillary chipped in 17 points, hitting a pair of triples while dishing out four assists and two steals.
- Holmes also added five blocks, moving her up to 128 career swats and seventh all-time in the record book.
- Joining Berger on the boards were Holmes and Cardaño-Hilary who all had seven boards.
- Graduate senior guard Ali Patberg led the way with seven assists as Indiana had 17 on 36 made shots. It marked Patberg's 36th career game with five or more assists.
- As a team, the Hoosiers shot 58.1 percent from the floor and 44.4 percent at the 3-point line.
- Patberg recorded her 100th career start in an Indiana uniform.
