THREE LAND ON BIG TEN PRESEASON HONORS LIST
Seniors Mary Parsons and Priscilla Schmid and sophomore Valerie Clancy earned a spot on the Big Ten Preseason Honors List.
Parsons currently holds the best career average in program history at 73.73. Last year, she posted a 73.70 mark and finished T40 or better in six of seven events. Parsons opened the season with a T17 finish at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational.
Last season, Schmid was averaging a 71.18 in 11 rounds, which was on track to be the best season average in program history before an injury kept her out of the spring schedule and the season was ultimately shortened. The highlight of her season was earning the first tournament title of her career at the Landfall Tradition. Schmid twice earned Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Week accolades in the fall and came in at No. 21 in the final GolfStat player rankings. Schmid earned WGCA All-American Honorable Mention honors, the fist Hoosier to earn a WGCA accolade since 2003. For her career, her 74.22 average is the second-best in IU history.
Clancy returns after a freshman season that saw her compete in 15 rounds. A native of Mitchelstown, Ireland, Clancy made her career debut in the Cardinal Classic, where she finished in third place.
WHAT'S AHEAD THIS SPRING
The Hoosiers will play in five regular season tournaments this spring, with this week marking the first of three-straight in South Carolina. IU will host the Indiana Invitational at the new Pfau Course April 17-18, marking the team's competitive debut at the course.
