ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The No. 13-ranked Indiana University water polo team fell for the first time in 2021 season, dropping a hard-fought contest at No. 6 Michigan, 8-5, in the first game of the Michigan Invitational on Saturday morning.
With the setback, the Hoosiers fall to 4-1 on the season, while the Wolverines improve to 1-0 on the year.
KEY MOMENTS
• Junior Izzy Mandema led Indiana with two goals against Michigan, while sophomore Zoe Crouch and freshman Kallie White had a goal and an assist each.
• Also scoring for the Hoosiers was junior Tina Doherty, who had a score and three steals.
• Junior goalkeeper Mary Askew had 10 saves and two steals for IU.
NOTABLES
• Sophomore Katherine Hawkins set a career-high with four steals.
• Michigan leads the overall series with the Hoosiers, 50-21-2.
