Day One of Palmetto Intercollegiate Suspended Due to Darkness

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Indiana women's golf officially opened the season Sunday at the Palmetto Intercollegiate. The second round was suspended due to darkness as the Hoosiers will finish the round tomorrow at 8 a.m. before competing in the final round.

• The Hoosiers started on the No. 10 tee.
• Prior to the start of the first round, senior Priscilla Schmid and junior Alexis Miestowski withdrew from the event.
• Senior Angela Aung led the Hoosiers in the first round, carding a 76. She was strongest on the back nine, picking up a birdie to be 1-over at the turn. With five holes to go in the second round, she is currently tied for 16th.
• Senior Mary Parsons turned in a 78 in the opening round and also had her best outing on the back nine. Parsons carded three birdies and made the turn at 2-under. Parsons ran into some trouble on No. 3 but parred No. 4 and had a birdie on No. 5. She also has five holes remaining in the second round and is tied for 28th.
• Sophomore Hanna Tanaka shot an 81 in the opening round. After beginning the event with four bogeys, Tanaka either parred or birdied the next five holes. With five holes left in the second round, she is tied for 46th place.
• Sophomore Valerie Clancy opened the event with an 87, ending the round by parring three of the last four holes.
• Junior Maddie Dittoe was the lone Hoosier to complete both rounds. After shooting a 90 in the first round, Dittoe improved by eight strokes in the second round .
UP NEXT
Players from Indiana, College of Charleston and North Carolina will finish their second round at 8 a.m. The final round will tee off between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. with no re-pair in between rounds.
