BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Big Ten Conference announced their 2020-21 Field Hockey Preseason Honors. Indiana Field Hockey saw freshman Jemima Cookson, sophomore Sydney Keld, and junior Mary Kate Kesler land on the watch list.
Cookson joins the Indiana Field Hockey program from Morpeth, England where she was the vice-captain for her high school squad. She played club for Whitely Bay and Tynemouth where they were league champions from 2014-2019.
The 2020-21 season will be the first season that Keld suits up for the Hoosiers as she spent the 2019 season at Delaware where she didn't see game action. She was a three-time captain at Caravel Academy and helped the team post a 56-15-2 record in her four years spent there. Keld finished her high school career as the program leader in points, goals, and assists.
Kelser has started in all but one game since she joined the program her freshman year. She has tallied three goals and two assists. Off the field, Kesler has excelled in the classroom by being named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and landed on the Academic All-Big Ten squad.
As a team, the Hoosiers will open the 2020-21 campaign in Virginia Beach, Va. They will face Rutgers on Feb. 26 at 12 p.m. and Iowa on Feb. 27 at 12 p.m. Both games can be streamed on BTN+. A subscription is required.
