Forbes’ Goal in OT Leads Indiana Past Rutgers, 1-0

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior Melanie Forbes netted a goal in the 94th minute to give Indiana women's soccer (1-1-0) a 1-0 overtime victory against Rutgers (1-1-0) Thursday afternoon at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
KEY MOMENTS
• The first half was largely a defensive battle as the first shot for either team came on an on-target look by Indiana's Oliwia Wos in the 32nd minute that was saved by Rutgers goalkeeper Meagan McClelland.
• The Scarlet Knights fired back with a shot by Giana Romano in the 39th minute to give Kopel her first save.
• To start the second half, IU freshman Jen Blitchok attempted to break the stalemate on the corner kick, but it was saved by Rutgers' McClelland.
• With the third shot for the Hoosiers in the 58th minute, senior Melanie Forbes had an on target look before it was saved.
• A shot in the 71st minute, Rutgers' Emily Sapienza, gave Kopel her second save this afternoon.
• Rutgers had two shots in the 85th minute but couldn't capitalize as Indiana's defense blocked the shots.
• The gamewinner for Indiana came in the 94th minute. After freshman Anna Bennett served in a corner kick across the box, the ball bounced around before landing at the left foot of Forbes in. She tucked it in to the near post for the gamewinner.

• This marks Indiana's first victory in the seven-game series against the Scarlet Knights.
