
Fowler Nabs Second Medal of the Championships

Gilliland Makes Third Final of the Weekend
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Indiana University divers closed out the 2021 Big Ten Championships with a third medal on Saturday night at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
MEN'S PLATFORM DIVE
Redshirt junior Andrew Capobianco won the Consolation Final of the Men's Platform Dive with an NCAA A Standard mark of 369.95. Senior Mory Gould finished 10th out of the B Final with a score of 326.35, while junior Cole VanDevender took 12th with a final tally of 299.45. He hit an NCAA C Standard score of 306.40 to make the B Final.
WOMEN'S 1-METER DIVE
Freshman Anne Fowler nabbed her second medal of the weekend with a silver in the 1-meter dive. She scored an NCAA A Standard mark of 326.40 to secure the second spot in the standings. Fellow freshman Tarrin Gilliland scored a career-best 309.20 points in a fourth-place finish.
Sophomore Zain Smith finished ninth in the preliminary round with a score of 280.90 to earn a spot in the Consolation Final. She turned in a six-dive set score of 279.35 to finish 15th overall. Both scores hit NCAA C Standard totals.
NOTABLES
• Fowler is the first freshman diver from Indiana to win a pair of medals in the same Big Ten Championships since Jessica Parratto won the Big Ten crown on the Platform and took silver in the 3-meter event. Parratto also earned a fourth-place finish on the 1-meter in 2015.
• Gilliland was one of two divers (Abigail Knapton, Nebraska) to make the final in all three diving events over the weekend. She finished fourth on the 1-meter, fifth on the 3-meter, and seventh on the platform in just her second collegiate meet.
• On the day, Indiana divers hit 11 NCAA Standard scores with five NCAA A Standard marks.
