
Forbes’ Brace Leads Indiana to Shutout Victory against Iowa

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana's women's soccer picked up its second consecutive shutout win against Iowa on Sunday afternoon behind a brace from senior Melanie Forbes. The Hoosiers defeated the Hawkeyes, 2-0, at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
KEY MOMENTS
• In the 8th minute, sophomore Avery Lockwood led the Hoosiers on a fast breakaway. She was able to find Melanie Forbes on the right flank as she netted it into the goal to give the Hoosiers a 1-0 lead.
• The Hawkeyes looked to tie up the game in the 20th minute with a shot by Maggie Johnston but was saved by senior goalkeeper Bethany Kopel.
• Forbes netted her second goal in the 30th minute after a steal on a failed clearing attempt 27 yards out. She dribbled into the center of the 18-yard line for a right footed shot low into the far post.
• Out of the locker room, Iowa put up the first four shots to start the second half, but Indiana's backline held strong to secure the shutout.
