Glass No. 4 on TDS Players to Watch, Bezerra No. 57
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana men's soccer redshirt senior defender Spencer Glass was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Preseason Best XI first team, the publication announced on Thursday.
In a separate release from TDS, Glass was named No. 4 on a list of the Top-100 Men's Soccer Players to Watch this season. Sophomore forward Victor Bezerra checked in at No. 57 on the list.
Glass, a Fort Wayne, Ind., native, was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List last week. He has started in 27 of his 64 career games played along the defensive backline for Indiana. He returns for his final season as the squad's active leader in goals scored (nine), assists (16), and points (34). The 2019 All-Big Ten second team performer has four game-winning tallies in his career.
Bezerra made 15 starts, including each of the final nine matches of the season, in 21 appearances in 2019. The Chicago native led the team with 19 points, scored a team-high eight goals, and tied for the team-lead with three game-winning tallies. Bezerra became the third player in program history to record a postseason hat trick when he scored all three Hoosier goals against No. 19 Kentucky in the second round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
Indiana opens the 2020-21 season on Feb. 19 as hosts to the Wisconsin Badgers.
Consistent with IU Athletics' ongoing efforts to protect the health and safety of students, coaches, staff, spectators and the local community, men's soccer matches will be played without fans indefinitely. IU Athletics' decision is in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and is consistent with what has transpired on all Big Ten campuses.
