
Wrestling Falls Against Michigan State, Nebraska

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Sophomore No. 6 ranked wrestler Donnell Washington got another ranked win, but the Indiana Wrestling team fell against Michigan State (28-10) and Nebraska (47-0) on Saturday at Wilkinson Hall.

• Indiana falls to 1-5 on the season.
• Donnell Washington beat his second ranked opponent of the season with a 16-3 major decision over No. 17 Drew Hughes of Michigan State.
• Washing led 6-2 after the first period and closed the match with a four-point near fall with 40 seconds to go in the third period for the victory.
• Sophomore Nick South won his second straight match of the season and his first ranked win with a 5-0 decision against No. 17 Jake Tucker.
• In the second period South held Tucker down and did not let his register an escape point. South got a take down in the last minute of the third period for the 5-0 victory.
• Cayden Rooks got a take down in the last minute of the third period, which was pivotal in his 4-3 decision over Matt Santos.
• Kyle Luigs in his match against Nebraska's Alex Thomsen came out strong with a take down and four-point near fall with nine seconds left in the first period. Luigs added another four-point near fall in the second period and held a double-digit lead before Thomsen got the pin.
• After going down 11-1 in his match against No. 3 Labriola of Nebraska, Donnell Washington got within four at 11-7 and nearly turned a four-point near fall into a pin.
• The Hoosiers last two defeats against Nebraska were by injury default.
