BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Big Ten announced its conference only schedule for the 2021 softball season on Monday evening. The Indiana University Softball program will play 44 games including 16 home games slated to be played at Andy Mohr Field.
"This is a unique opportunity to play every Big Ten opponent this season," Head Coach Shonda Stanton said. "My staff is grateful to be at Indiana with the leadership of Scott Dolson; we appreciate the tireless efforts of his staff and the medical team. Above all else, my coaches and I are super proud of our student-athletes and cannot wait to take the field with Team 48."
Indiana will open the season on Feb. 26 at the Sleepy Hollow Complex in Leesburg, Florida with doubleheaders against Nebraska (Feb. 26), Wisconsin (Feb. 27) and Minnesota (Feb. 28).
Following a bye week, the Hoosiers will then return to the Complex for a three game series against Northwestern (March 11-12) and Rutgers (March 13-14).
The on campus Big Ten slate will consist of eight four-game series with one Friday game, a Saturday doubleheader and one Sunday game. Indiana opens up on campus play at Andy Mohr Field on the weekend of March 26 when they host Michigan (March 26-28).
Including Michigan, Indiana will host Ohio State (April 16-18), Michigan State (April 30-May 2) and Penn State (May 7-9). The Hoosiers will travel to Iowa (April 2-4), Purdue (April 9-11), Illinois (April 23-25) and Maryland (May 14-16).
There will not be a Big Ten conference tournament scheduled for this season.
First pitch times will be announced at a later date. All playing sites, start times and dates are subject to change.
Consistent with IU Athletics' ongoing efforts to protect the health and safety of students, coaches, staff, spectators and the local community, softball games will be played without fans indefinitely. IU Athletics' decision is in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and is consistent with what has transpired on all Big Ten campuses.
