LEESBURG, Fla. – Indiana Softball (4-4, 4-4 Big Ten) kicked off the weekend in Florida with two games against Northwestern (8-0, 8-0 Big Ten) on Friday afternoon. The Hoosiers fell 8-0 after a run rule in the first game and 8-1 in the second game of the day.
Game One: (RV) Northwestern 8, Indiana 0
KEY MOMENTS
• Hannah Davis led off the second inning with a single to the second baseman. Katie Lacefield was hit by a pitch to put two Hoosiers on. Pinch running for Lacefield, Aaliyah Andrews was able to advance to second after Davis successfully stole third to put both runners in scoring position. Davis attempted to steal home but was caught to end the inning.
• Northwestern tallied the first runs of the contest in the bottom of the second inning. The Wildcats plated two because of a fielding error by the Hoosiers. A clutch catch by Grayson Radcliffe and a second strikeout by Emily Goodin limited the damage and ended the inning.
• In the third, the Wildcats tacked on another four runs to make the score 6-0.
• Bella Norton drew a walk to start off the fourth as Brooke Benson entered to pinch run for Norton. Benson was able to steal second to put a Hoosier in scoring position, but nothing would come of it and Benson was stranded.
• Looking for the rally down 8-0, Desiree Dufek pinch hit for Tete Hart and tried to keep the game alive for Indiana in the fifth with a two out single through the left side. The Hoosiers weren't able to get anything going as Northwestern took game one.

• Northwestern threatened in the third, but Brooke Benson came up with a stellar catch at short stop and Grayson Radcliffe caught a pop up at second for the first two outs. Macy Montgomery recorded her first strike out of the contest to get out of the pinch and keep the side clean.
• Juvia Davis cracked a one out single to start the bottom of the third and Bella Norton followed it up with a walk, putting two Hoosiers on but were stranded.
