
Hoosiers Earn 8-2 Win at Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Indiana University baseball team defeated Michigan State, 8-2, on Friday afternoon at McLane Stadium in East Lansing, Mich.
With the victory, the Hoosiers improve to 10-2 on the season overall and in Big Ten conference play. The Spartans fall to 6-7 on the year and in league action.
KEY MOMENTS
• Trailing 1-0, Indiana responded with four runs in the top of the fifth inning. The rally started with an RBI groundout from DH Kip Fougerousse and an RBI infield single courtesy of INF Cole Barr.
• Two batters later with the bases loaded, INF Jordan Fucci lined a 1-1 offering to right-center field, plating two runs to give IU a 4-1 lead.
• In the top of the sixth, Barr collected another RBI with a bases-loaded walk, only for INF Paul Toetz to clear the bases with a three-run double to right-center field, pushing the Hoosier lead to 8-2.
• LHP Tommy Sommer (3-0) earned the win for Indiana, allowing just two runs on six hits in five innings of work, striking out a pair.
NOTABLES
• Indiana's 10-2 start in Big Ten play is the best for the team since starting 11-2 in league action in 2016.
• OF Drew Ashley extended his on-base streak to 37-games dating back to the 2019 season.
• Ashley and Toetz have at least one hit in all 12 games this season for the Hoosiers.
• LHP Braden Scott pitched two shutout innings of relief, allowing no hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
