
Indiana Volleyball Falls on the Road at Illinois

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Indiana volleyball was defeated against Illinois, 3-0 (15-25, 21-25, 18-25) on Friday at Huff Hall.
KEY MOMENTS
• Tommi Stockham put down a kill to put the Hoosiers within four at 18-14, but Illinois used a 5-0 run to take a 23-14 advantage in the first set.
• Trailing 8-6 in set two the Hoosiers scored three points in a row on kills from Brooke Westbeld, Breana Edwards and Leyla Blackwell to go up 9-8.
• After an Illinois point, the Hoosiers used another 5-0 spurt to increase their lead to 14-9.
• Following an Indiana timeout after Illinois took a 23-18 lead in the second set, the Hoosiers scored back-to-back points on a kill from Edwards and an ace from Savannah Kjolhede to make it 23-20 and force Illinois into a timeout. Illinois went on to win set two, 25-21
• Trailing by seven at 18-11 the Hoosiers scored four straight points to get within three at 18-15 on a kill from Breana Edwards. Illinois scored seven of the final 10 points of the set to win the match.
NOTES
• Breana Edwards led the Hoosiers with 11 kills and hit .308 for the match. It's the 10th match this season Edwards has posted double-digit kills.
• Tommi Stockham tallied nine kills and added seven digs for the Hoosiers.
• Senior setter Brooke Westbeld posted 26 assists in the match.
• Sophomore libero Haley Armstrong led Indiana with nine digs.
• Freshman middle blocker Leyla Blackwell recorded six digs and added two blocks for the Hoosiers.
