BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana men's golf announced the addition of transfer Noah Gillard on Wednesday. Gillard, who played two seasons at the University of Illinois, will join the program in the fall.
Gillard is a native of Greenwood, Ind. and attended Center Grove High School. In two seasons at Illinois, he averaged a 73.88, highlighted by a sophomore campaign with a 73.27 average and a pair of top-20 finishes. His career three-round low of 210 in the Sports Authority Collegiate earned him a tie for 11th place.
"I have had the pleasure to watch Noah Gillard play a tremendous amount of golf as a junior golfer, a high school golfer, an amateur golfer and a collegiate golfer," Coach Mayer said. "His ability and talent are unsurpassed and he returns home as the defending Indiana Amateur Champion with the opportunity to once again showcase his skills in his home state. We are thrilled that Noah is joining our Hoosier team and think that Indiana University is a perfect fit for him and likewise he is a perfect fit for Indiana University. Welcome home, Noah Gillard."
Last summer, Gillard won both the Indiana State Amateur and the 2020 Indiana Match Play Amateur. In addition, he finished eighth at the Indianapolis Open and T13 at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Invite.
Gillard twice put up a career low round of 68 Illinois and his freshman campaign also saw him land in the top-20 twice.
A two-time Indy Star Boy's Golf Athlete of the Year pick, Gillard earned a 2017 IHSAA Boys Golf Individual championship and helped lead Center Grove to a 2017 team title. Gillard was a four-time IHSAA All-State and All-Conference honoree and was named to the 2018 Center Grove Male Athlete of the Year, while being named the golf team's MVP all four years.
Gillard is a member of the Golfweek Junior Tour Hall of Fame and was a 2017 Rolex Junior All-America team honoree. He won the 2017 Scott Robertson Memorial Championship, tied for seventh at the 2017 Boys Junior PGA Championship, took medalist honors at the 2016 Hoosier Junior Championship and advanced to match play at the USGA Junior Amateur.
Also a four-year letterwinner for the basketball team at Center Grove, Gillard is the son of Dave and Amy. He has two siblings, Quentin and Eli.
