BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University baseball's OF Grant Richardson, INF Cole Barr and RHP McCade Brown were named to the Big Ten Preseason Players to Watch List on Thursday. Also, the Hoosiers were picked to finish second behind Michigan in the conference in a preseason poll conducted of the league's coaches.
A preseason All-America selection this year, Richardson earned Third-Team All-America accolades from Collegiate Baseball in 2020. He started all 14 games he appeared in, leading the Hoosiers with a .424 batting average, five home runs, 17 RBI, 21 runs scored and a .797 slugging percentage.
Last season, Barr played in all 15 games for Indiana, batting .246 on the season with three doubles, a triple, two home runs, nine RBI and 12 runs scored. He ended the season on a 15-game reached-base streak for the Hoosiers.
In 2020, Brown made four appearances for the Hoosiers with one start and one save, striking out nine batters in just four innings of work. Prior to this season, he was named the No. 1 prospect in the Big Ten for the 2021 MLB Draft by Perfect Game.
Indiana begins the 2021 season this weekend in Minneapolis, Minn., playing two games against both Minnesota and Rutgers at U.S. Bank Stadium.
