
Hoosiers Take Down Minnesota, 5-2

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Indiana University baseball team defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers, 5-2, on Friday night at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn. With the win, the Hoosiers move to 1-1 on the season, while the Golden Gophers fall to 0-1.
KEY MOMENTS
• With two outs in the top of the first inning, the Hoosiers staged a rally. After a double to right field off the bat of INF Cole Barr, INF Jordan Fucci plated him with an RBI double down the right-field line to give IU a 1-0 lead.
• Fucci was back at it again with two outs and a man on, this time in the third inning. On a 1-1 offering, Fucci launched a two-run homer deep into right-center field stands of U.S. Bank Stadium to give the Hoosiers a 3-0 advantage.
• LHP Tommy Sommer (1-0) was dominant for the Hoosiers, tossing eight shutout innings. Sommer allowed just two hits and matched his career-high with 10 strikeouts.
• Sommer didn't allow his first hit until a bunt single in the bottom of the fifth inning.
• In the top of the sixth, DH Drew Ashley plated another run on an RBI single through the left side of the infield.
• OF Hunter Jessee clobbered his first career home run in the top of eighth for the Hoosiers, a solo shot deep over the right-field fence.

• Indiana was 6-for-15 (.400) as a team with two outs.
• IU had four players tally two hits each – Ashley, Barr, Fucci and C Jacob Southern.
• Ashley extended his on-base streak to 17-games dating back to last season.
