MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Indiana University baseball team fell to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 2-1, in the first game of the year on Friday night at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn.

KEY MOMENTS
• Trailing 1-0 in the top of the fourth, freshman OF Sam Murrison tied the game with an RBI triple off the fence in right field. The hit and RBI were the first in the career for the rookie and tied the game at 1-1. Murrison went 2-for-4 in the game.
• RHP John Modugno was brilliant in relief for the Hoosiers, pitching four perfect innings. The freshman had four strikeouts and needed just 35 pitches out of the bullpen.

NOTABLES
• INF Grant Macciocchi and INF Paul Toetz each notched their first career hit for the Hoosiers.
• OF Drew Ashley extended his on-base streak to 16-games dating back to last season.
• DH Jacob Southern, INF Paul Toetz and Murrison made their first career starts for Indiana.
