Mackenzie Holmes Named Big Ten Player Of The Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Sophomore forward Mackenzie Holmes earned the final Big Ten Player of the Week honor for her performances against Iowa and Purdue.
This is the first Big Ten Player of the Week award for Holmes, who was previously named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week three times last season. She's also the first Hoosier to earn player of the week honors this season.
The Gorham, Maine native helped No. 10 Indiana to a pair of wins by averaging 24.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, shooting 82.1 percent from the floor, 2.5 blocks, 2.5 assist and 1.0 steals per game. Against Iowa, Holmes went 11-for-13 from the floor as she tied a team-high 22 points and recorded her fifth double-double of the season with a game-high 11 rebounds. She also added two blocks and an assist in 35 minutes of work.
Against Purdue, Holmes helped the Hoosiers secure the Barn Burner trophy for the fifth-straight season as she had a game-high 26 points on 12-for-15 shooting. She narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds, set a career-high four assists and had three blocks to go along with two steals against the Boilermakers.
Holmes and the Hoosiers head to the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday, March 11th as the No. 2 seed. They will face the winner of the 7-seed vs. 10-seed game at 6:30 p.m. ET at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
