Indiana Women’s Soccer Falls to No. 6 Penn State in Big Ten Regional Weekend Finals

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Number four seeded Indiana women's soccer fell to the number one seeded No. 6 Penn State, 3-1, at Jeffrey Field in University Park, Pa. on Sunday afternoon.
KEY MOMENTS
•Penn State took the lead in the 12th minute after Ally Schlegel received a pass from the midfield for a solo breakaway as she launched it into the near post.
• In the 33rd minute, sophomore Avery Lockwood had an on-target opportunity as the ball went sailing straight down the middle, but Penn State's keeper stepped in front for the save.
•The Nittany Lions would score again with less than a minute before half as Frankie Tagliaferri received a pass from midfield for a solo breakaway for a 2-0 lead.
•Out of the locker room, junior Oliwia Wos and Lockwood took a couple of shots looking to get Indiana on the board, but both would go just wide of the net.
• In the 60th minute, Penn State extended its lead to 3-0 after Schlegel received a pass just outside the six-yard box for the goal.
• Freshman Anna Bennett launched a shot from five yards out of the goalie box, to cut the Nittany Lions deficit 3-1 in the 73rd minute.
• IU had a couple of on target looks from freshman Gabi Rennie in the 83rd minute and sophomore Bria Telemaque in the remaining seconds, however they couldn't capitalize as the keeper was able to get in front for the saves.

• Indiana fell to 6-4-2 while Penn State improved to 10-1-1.
• Chloe Briede made her first career appearance for Indiana. She earned four saves against the Nittany Lions.
• Freshman Anna Bennett scored her second career goal.
• The Hoosiers outshot Penn State 15-10, six of those on goal. Sophomore Avery Lockwood led the team with three shots.
• IU also out cornered PSU 7-2.
