
Indiana Earns Road Win at Northwestern, 5-4

EVANSTON, Ill. – The Indiana University baseball team extended its winning-streak to three games with a 5-4 win over Northwestern at Miller Park in Evanston, Ill. on Friday afternoon.
With the victory, the Hoosiers improve to 14-7 on the season overall and in Big Ten conference play. The Wildcats fall to 11-11 on the year and in league action.
KEY MOMENTS
• After two scoreless frames, the Hoosiers jumped on the board first with a clutch RBI single from INF Kip Fougerousse. With the bases loaded and two outs, the freshman lined an 0-2 offering to right field, plating two runs to give IU the lead.
• Indiana added three runs in the top of the seventh to break the game open. INF Paul Toetz talled an RBI double before OF Morgan Colopy added another with a sacrifice fly. DH Tyler Van Pelt capped the scoring with an RBI single through the right side to push the Hoosiers' lead to 5-0.
• The Wildcats made it a game in the bottom of the frame, however, cutting the deficit to just one with four runs.
• With the still 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth, RHP Matt Litwicki worked around a leadoff single to earn his fourth save of the season and secure the win for Indiana.
• LHP Tommy Sommer (4-1) earned the win for the Hoosiers, allowing four runs in 6.1 innings of work. The lefty struck out five on the day.

• Dating back to the game against Illinois on April 9, Indiana didn't allow a hit for 12.1 innings.
• Out of the bullpen, RHP Nathan Stahl tossed 1.2 innings of relief. He allowed just two hits and struck out one.
• OF Grant Richardson had a pair of hits and scored two runs, while Toetz also had two knocks. Fougerousse had two hits and two RBI on the day.
• INF Cole Barr drew three walks and scored a run.
• INF James Espalin recorded his first career hit with a double in the top of the fourth inning.
