
Hoosiers Earn Series Win with 4-0 Victory at Northwestern on Sunday

EVANSTON, Ill. – The Indiana University baseball team clinched the series win at Northwestern with a 4-0 victory on Sunday afternoon at Miller Park in Evanston, Ill.
With the win, the Hoosiers improve to 15-8 on the season overall and in Big Ten conference play. The Wildcats fall to 12-12 on the year and in league action.
KEY MOMENTS
• RHP Gabe Bierman (2-2) earned the win for the Hoosiers, tossing 7.2 shutout innings while striking out six. The righty allowed just two hits and issued one walk on the afternoon.
• Bierman was terrific on Sunday, retiring 14-straight Wildcats at one point before allowing his first hit to lead off the sixth inning.
• After driving in a pair of runs on Saturday, DH Tyler Van Pelt was back at it on Sunday in the second inning, plating the game's first run. With runners on the corners and one out, Van Pelt earned an RBI with a fielder's choice to the shortstop.
• In the top of the fourth, OF Morgan Colopy demolished the baseball, clearing the fence in left-center field for a two-run home run. The freshman's third homer of the season pushed the IU lead to 3-0.
• INF Cole Barr made the Hoosier lead 4-0 with a sacrifice fly to right field in the top of the eighth.
NOTABLES
• The shutout is the third this season for the Hoosiers.
• The game also marked the fifth time this year that Indiana limited opponents to two hits or less.
• LHP Ty Bothwell made the most of his appearance, striking out the lone batter he faced to get the Hoosiers out of runners on the corners jam in the eighth inning.
• RHP Matt Litwicki pitched a perfect ninth inning, striking out two.
• OF Grant Richardson had a pair of hits for IU and also scored a run.
