
Indiana Sweeps Doubleheader with 7-1 Win over Minnesota

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana University baseball team completed the doubleheader sweep of Minnesota on Friday afternoon, taking game two, 7-1, at Bart Kaufman Field in Bloomington, Ind. IU won game one on Friday, 9-3.
With the victory, the Hoosiers improve to 16-8 on the season overall and in Big Ten play. The Golden Gophers fall to 4-22 on the year and in league action.
KEY MOMENTS
• OF Drew Ashley continued to swing a hot bat, crushing a three-run home run over the scoreboard in left field to give the Hoosiers the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Ashley's bomb was his fourth of the season.
• Indiana played add-on in the fourth, as both DH Tyler Van Pelt and OF Morgan Colopy each had RBI doubles. INF Tank Espalin also drove in a run to cap the scoring.
• In his first start of the season, RHP John Modugno tossed career-high 4.2 shutout innings for the Hoosiers. The righty allowed just three hits and struck out four.
• LHP Braden Scott (1-0) earned the win for the Hoosiers after getting the final out of the fifth inning. He induced an inning-ending groundout to end the frame.
• In the bottom of the eighth, C Collin Hopkins capped the Hoosier scoring with an RBI double to left-center field. The IU catcher had a day at the plate, batting 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored.

• The doubleheader sweep is the third this season for IU, who also swept a pair of twin-bills with Penn State at Bart Kaufman Field.
• Out of the bullpen, RHP Nathan Stahl pitched two innings, allowing one run on three hits with one strikeout.
• RHP Matt Litwicki tossed a scoreless ninth inning for Indiana, allowing one hit with two strikeouts.
