
Benson Goes Deep to Give Hoosiers Split in Series Finale

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – After a 2-0 loss in game one, the Hoosiers (16-16) came back to take a 1-0 victory and split the four-game series against Illinois on Sunday.
Game One: Illinois 2, Indiana 0
KEY MOMENTS
• Illinois scored on RBI singles in the first and fourth innings to take a 2-0 lead.
• In the top of the fifth inning Indiana got bunt singles from Taylor Lambert and Gabbi Jenkins to put runners on first and second with no outs.
• In the top of the sixth inning the Hoosiers loaded the bases but were unable to push across a run.
GAME 1 NOTABLES
• Bella Norton continued her strong hitting with a pair of doubles.
• Grace Lorsung went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.
• Emily Goodin pitched six inning with two earned runs and two strikeouts.
Game Two: Indiana 1, Illinois 0
GAME 2 KEY MOMENTS
• In the bottom of the third inning with a runner on third base, Natalie Foor got a strikeout to end the inning.
• In the fourth inning Illinois had a runner on second with one out and the Hoosiers got a double play to end the inning.
• In the fifth inning, the Hoosiers broke through as Brooke Benson connected for a home run to center field to give Indiana a 1-0 lead.
• In the bottom of the sixth Illinois got their leadoff runner on base, but the Hoosiers held their 1-0 lead.
GAME 2 NOTABLES
• Natalie Foor got the start and pitched six inning of shutout ball with four strikeouts. Foor recorded her first win of the season.
• Emily Goodin came on to pitch the seventh inning and get the save for Indiana.
• Brooke Benson hit her first career home run for the Hoosiers.
• Bella Norton batted .462 with six hits and five RBI in the series.
