IU’s Hawkins Named Scholar-Athlete of the Month for May

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University water polo's Katherine Hawkins was named the IU Scholar Athlete of the Month for May.
"Katherine continues to impress both in the classroom and in the pool," said Allen Kohn, IU's assistant director of academic services. "Her performance in a challenging Media School curriculum has been nothing short of spectacular. As a sophomore, Katherine has met the demands of upper-level coursework while excelling in the pool as part of the No. 14-ranked Water Polo team. Members of this sport also face the unique challenge of extensive travel as they often compete on the west coast. Katherine is a shining example of the true scholar-athlete."
In her freshman season in 2021, Hawkins was named an ACWPC All-Academic honoree. This year, Hawkins continues to impress in the pool, totaling 22 goals, 24 assists, 32 steals and four field blocks.
