No. 14 Indiana Falls to No. 2 Stanford in First Round of MPSF Tournament

TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 14-ranked Indiana University water polo team dropped its opening match of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Tournament, 20-6, to No. 2 Stanford on Friday afternoon in Tempe, Ariz.
The setback drops IU's record to 9-16 overall and to 1-12 in MPSF play. With the win, Stanford improves to 11-4 and 9-4 in league action. The Hoosiers will face No. 16 San Jose State on Saturday, May 1 at 12:00 p.m. ET.
KEY MOMENTS
• Sophomore Zoe Crouch got IU on the board with a powerplay goal just three minutes into the game.
• Sophomore Lanna Debow added an even-strength goal right before the end of the first period to break a 4-0 Stanford run.
• Crouch added her second goal of the game midway through the second period off an assist from freshman Kiki Mein.
• After IU earned a penalty shot, junior Tina Doherty converted from the spot for IU's first goal of the second half.
• Crouch went for her hat-trick in the fourth period but her shot deflected off the post.
• Junior Izzy Mandema recorded a goal for IU in the fourth period.
